AUBURN, Ala. – In a meet with a lot of fall flavors and colors, the No. 1 Auburn equestrian team defeated No. 5 Oklahoma State, 12-7, at the Auburn Equestrian Center Friday afternoon. The Tigers improved to 3-0 on the year with the win.

"It was a solid win against a good team today," head coach Greg Williams said. "The mistakes that were made were ones we can easily work on. We need to get those worked out before we welcome one of our top rivals in a couple weeks."

The Tigers kicked off the meet with a 7-2 lead after Equitation on the Flat and Horsemanship.

Auburn's Flat crew went 4-0 vs. the Cowgirls with senior Hayley Iannotti picking up the first point in the event, 80-74. After sophomore Taylor St. Jacques tied her opponent with a pair of 86s, freshman Emma Kurtz followed with her second win of the season in a 72-63 victory over Molly Dunn.

Senior Caitlin Boyle earned her first Most Outstanding Performer honor in the event this year, scoring 81 points in her win. Classmate Ashton Alexander closed out the event with a tight 79-78 victory over Hannah Janson.

The Horsemanship corps opened up its portion of the meet with three-straight points from upperclassmen. Junior Kara Kaufmann scored a season-high 75 points in her victory before senior Lauren Diaz improved to 3-0 with a 74.5-72.5 win over Sarah Miller. Senior Kelsey Jung capped the scoring in the event with another 74.5-72.5 victory, moving to 3-0 on the year.

Auburn saw three points from Equitation Over Fences with the first once again coming from Iannotti. She edged her opponent, 87-86, for win No. 3 on the year in the event. Freshman McKayla Langmeier continued her winning ways in Fences, topping Sydnie Ziegler, 85-66. Alexander finished things up with 81 points in her victory to stay undefeated.

A pair of sophomores earned Reining victories in Deanna Green and Terri-June Granger. Green topped Hunter DeJane with a 70-68.5 win and Granger capped the evening with an edge over Stephanie Helsen, 69-68.5.

Auburn will return to conference play when the No. 2 Texas A&M Aggies visit the Auburn University Equestrian Center at 3 p.m. CT, Nov. 2. This meet will be the last home meet of the fall season and admission is free.
