Auburn—The Auburn track and field program will send 12 women, seven men and one relay to the 2019 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships East Preliminary competition, the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee announced Wednesday.
The competition is scheduled for May 23-25 at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla. California State University, Sacramento in Sacramento, Calif. will host the West Preliminary. The qualifiers out of these two regions will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 5-8 in Austin, Texas.
Among the 12 women competing in Jacksonville will include 10 in the field events. The list of Auburn women at the prelims include: Ashley Carter (javelin), Kylee Carter (javelin), Skyler Daniel (high jump), Natosha Jordan (high jump), Brenda Kigen (5000m, 10000m), Joyce Kimeli (3000m steeple, 5000m), Caroline Lawrence (high jump), Madi Malone (hammer), Tori McKinley (discus, shot put), Peyton Montgomery (javelin), Ivana Muzaric (discus) and Erin Perkins (hammer).
On the men's side individuals competing include: Cade Antonucci (javelin), Dontavious Hill (high jump), Noah Igbinoghene (long jump), Silas Kipngetich (3000m steeple), John Putnam (javelin), Anthony Schwartz (100m), and Shaun Shivers (200m). The men's 4x100m relay team also qualified for the meet.
Auburn will have a total of 22 entries combined, with seven men's entries and 15 women's entries. Distance runners Brenda Kigen and Joyce Kimeli, along with thrower Tori McKinley, will compete in multiple events for the Tigers. Seven will be competing in the East Prelims for the first time, while 11, including eight women, will be making a repeat appearance.
