Two touchdowns from Darius Slayton (above). An extra-effort play from Jonathan Jones that caused a turnover. That and more in this week's Auburn in the NFL recap.

BEST OF WEEK 8

Carlton Davis, CB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
In just his second NFL season, Davis continues to play well at cornerback. The former second-round pick had two tackles and a season-high three pass deflections in Sunday's loss to the Tennessee Titans. Per Pro Football Focus, Davis has been targeted 51 times, seventh highest in the league, and has only allowed 24 receptions – holding opposing receivers to lower than a 50 percent catch rate.

Jonathan Jones, CB, New England Patriots
The Patriots' defense is on a historic pace this season, and Jones is a major reason why. On Sunday, he had seven tackles and made one of the plays of the game when he chased down Nick Chubb from behind and knocked the ball loose. It was his second forced fumble of the season. Through eight weeks, Jones is rated as the No. 2 cornerback both overall and in pass coverage per Pro Football Focus. He's rated No. 1 among cornerbacks against the run, five points ahead of the closest player.

Cody Parkey, K, Tennessee Titans
Since signing with the Titans earlier this month, Parkey has been solid. The sixth-year player made both of his field-goal attempts from 51 and 42 yards and was also a perfect 2 of 2 on extra points to help lead the Titans past the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 27-23. The 51-yard field goal was the sixth field goal made from 50 yards or more in his NFL career.

Darius Slayton, WR, New York Giants
Three weeks after scoring his first NFL touchdown, Slayton hauled in two touchdown receptions the Giants' 31-26 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The rookie wide receiver finished with 50 yards receiving and has now recorded at least two catches per game since making his debut on Sept. 22. Slayton has also become a factor on special teams, returning nine kicks for almost 200 yards over the past two games.
