No. 16 Tigers set for Women’s National Championships

AUBURN, Ala. – Head coach Ryan Wochomurka and the No. 16 Auburn Tigers travel to Athens, Georgia for the 2024 Women's Swimming and Diving National Championships, March 20-23.
 
Action begins inside Gabrielsen Natatorium on Wednesday, March 20 at 5 p.m. CT with the 200 medley and 800 free relays. All sessions of the championships will be streamed live on ESPN+.
 
Ten Tigers earned their tickets to NCAAs this year. Abigail Farrar, Meghan Lee, Anastasia Makarova, Maggie McGuire, Kensley Merritt, Polina Nevmovenko, Hannah Ownbey, Averee Preble, Ashlynn Sullivan and Ellie Waldrep each punched their tickets to Athens. Emma Steckiel, Lawson Ficken, Elizaveta Klevanovich and Lexie Mulvihill will accompany the team as relay alternates.
 
For Wochomurka, eight of his squad return from last year's NCAA Championships when the team delivered 14 points in Knoxville, Tennessee to finish 26th overall. It was the best finish under the then-second-year head coach and the best since 2019.
 
Auburn also produced 10 All-American honors from eight different athletes a year ago.
 
Meanwhile, Abigail Farrar, Maggie McGuire, Kensley Merritt and Ashlynn Sullivan will each be making their debut at NCAAs.  
 
The Tigers are coming off an impressive showing at the SEC Championships last month in on the Plains when the Orange and Blue pieced together a fourth-pace performance, its highest since 2016. Auburn's 879.5 points were also the most since 2006.
 
All-time, the Tigers have won five National Women's Championships (2002, 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2007).
 
Auburn's last individual National Champion was Olivia Scott in the 100 fly in 2013.
