AUBURN, Ala. – Head coach Ryan Wochomurka and the No. 14/19 Auburn Tigers continue their busy dual meet slate as the Orange and Blue trek north for another SEC bout with the Kentucky Wildcats on Friday, Jan. 17.
Action is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. CT. Live results will be available on Meet Mobile and the meet will be streamed live on SEC Network Plus.
Wochomurka and Co. kicked off the 2025 home slate with an exciting home bout against South Carolina. The men solidified a dominant victory, 215-85, while the women battled tough and ultimately fell, 152.5-147.5.
Both the men’s and women’s teams are sitting inside the top 20 of the latest CSCAA Coaches Poll. The men carry a No. 14 ranking entering Friday’s dual while the women sit at No. 19. Kentucky’s men are receiving votes.
Nate Stoffle, Danny Schmit and Kalle Makinen were as dominant as ever last Friday against the Gamecocks. The trio accounted for six individual wins in the 100 back, 200 back, 50 free, 100 free, 200 fly and 200 IM. Stoffle, the senior from Lilburn, Georgia has compiled seven individual victories between the 100 and 200 back across the 2024-25 campaign thus far.
While freshman Warner Russ didn’t win an event on Friday, his performances in the 200 free (1:35.98) and 200 IM (1:48.29) not only helped the Tigers to a dominant victory over an SEC foe but also earned the Jackson, Mississippi product conference Freshman of the Week honors.
Breaststrokers Anastasia Makarova, Zoey Zeller and Audrey Crawford combined for a huge tally of points on Friday versus USC. The trio swept the 100 breast with times all sub 1:02.00. Crawford returned in the 200 breast for a second-place finish at 2:12.26.
It was freshman Lora Komoroczy who produced some of the fastest times of the meet, though. Winning the 100 back with a 51.58, the Hungarian jumped to fourth all-time in Auburn history. Later in the meet, her 52.04 in the 100 fly was good enough for second place but vaulted Komoroczy to seventh all-time in program history.
Komoroczy, Crawford and Julia Strojnowska, all freshmen, have accounted for all four of Auburn’s top 10 swims this season.
Few had better weeks than Talan Blackmon and Kyleigh Kidd. Blackmon dialed up career-highs on both the 1-meter (369.22) and 3-meter (392.03), claiming victories in both events against the Gamecocks. Both scores also moved the sophomore to No. 9 all-time in program history in each discipline.
Kidd on the other hand, also delivered a career-high on the 3-meter with a monstrous 339.75 at Georgia Tech. She would follow up with a 331.28 and a second-place finish versus USC.
Auburn will return to the Plains on Friday, Jan. 24 for a bout with rival Alabama. The meet will also be the Tigers’ Senior Day.
