  • Tied for the team lead with six hits in the three-game series, collecting multiple hits in each of the last two games, including three hits and a home run in the finale.
  • Score the walk-off run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 10th inning of the series-clinching win against Youngstown State.
  • Turned around an hour later and started the series finale with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning, kickstarting the team’s 17-run offensive outburst.
  • Caught and called the pitches in 19 of 26 innings in just over 24 total hours, helping lead the Auburn pitching staff to a 1.38 ERA – four total runs allowed – on the weekend.

  • His 12 strikeouts were tied for the most in the league opening weekend and the most by an Auburn pitcher since Tanner Burns matched the program record with 15 strikeouts vs. Cincinnati on Mar. 1, 2019.
  • Struck out multiple batters in all five innings pitched, including striking out the side in his first and last inning of work.
  • Struck out the first five batters and last four batters he faced in the outing.

  • Racked up a career-high nine strikeouts in 5.0 scoreless innings pitched in the series finale.

Garrett Brewer – Jr. – LHP – Eau Claire, Mich.

  • Made his Auburn debut with a one-run lead and the potential go-ahead run in scoring position with nobody out in the ninth inning of the season opener.
  • Struck out the first two batters he faced and ended the game with a flyout to center field to record his first save in an Auburn uniform and second of his career.

Ryan Hetzler – Jr. – RHP – Corona, Calif.

  • Entered with two runners on and nobody out in a tie game in the 10th inning and struck out the side on 10 pitches.
  • The offense came out the next half inning and won the game on a walk-off wild pitch, earning him his third win in an Auburn uniform and eighth of his career.

Team Notes

Auburn started the season 3-0 for the fifth time under head coach Butch Thompson and 29th time in the modern era (since 1949) … winning the first two games by one run apiece, it marked the first time in program history the team won a pair of one-run games to start the season … the four total runs allowed in the series were the fewest since holding Rhode Island to three runs in a four-game series from Mar. 4-6, 2022 … Auburn’s 43 strikeouts were the most in a three-game series since at least 1992 and tied for the most in any three-game span since striking out 45 in three games from Feb. 15-20, 1997 … the starting rotation of Marciano, Sanders and Petrovic, who had made a combined one weekend start in and Auburn uniform entering the weekend, struck out a combined 29 batters with one walk and allowed two runs on five hits in 16.0 innings pitched … all three starters turned in 5.0 or more innings pitched in the series, marking the first time since Trace Bright (5.0), Joseph Gonzalez (6.0) and Mason Barnett (5.1) did so in the 2022 Auburn Regional … the pitching staff threw 70 percent strikes for the entirety of the series (248/355), including the starting pitchers who threw 74.6 percent strikes (147/197) … the Tigers defense did not commit an error in the 26 innings played and 95 chances.
