Auburn baseball and head coach Butch Thompson announced the addition of Aaron Everett as the program's director of player development.
"Auburn baseball is excited to announce the addition of Aaron Everett as our director of player development," Thompson said. "Aaron has most recently served as the head coach at Southern Union State Community College and pitched collegiately at Tennessee. His experience competing in our league and exceptional job locally as a head coach could not be ignored.
"Aaron checks so many boxes that will allow him to make a positive impact on our players, coaches and program as a whole," Thompson added. "Auburn Family, help me welcome Aaron, Joanna and their three amazing children to the Plains."
Everett served as the head coach at Southern Union the last two seasons and led the Bison to a 44-31 overall record during his time at the helm. Prior to being appointed the head coach, he spent the 2019 fall semester as an assistant coach for the program.
Everett also previously held assistant coaching positions at the Alabama-Huntsville (2019), Albany State (2018) and Tennessee Wesleyan (2017).
"I'm incredibly blessed to be joining the Auburn baseball family," Everett said. "I set a goal to be a part of a SEC coaching staff when my playing days were over, and I'm blessed that it has come to fruition.
"The opportunity to work every day with Coach Thompson, who is a phenomenal mentor of the game, Coach Hudson, who is my all-time favorite professional pitcher, and the rest of the staff is an absolute dream come true for me," Everett added. "I would be hard pressed to find a finer group of men to work with and learn from. I'm so fired up to get this season going and watch it unfold."
Prior to breaking into the college coaching ranks, Everett spent three seasons as the head coach at Loudon High School, where he was named the 2015 TBCA Sectional and District 5-AA Coach of the Year, and two seasons as an assistant coach at Altha High School.
Everett was a three-year reliever at Tennessee, logging an 8-2 record and 3.23 ERA in 49 career appearances from 2006-08. He went 4-0 with a 2.82 ERA in 21 appearances in 2007 and went on to be named the SEC Community Service Player of the Year.
Following an injury, Everett spent one season at Lee University in 2010 and went on to be named All-SSAC and the Lee University Relief Pitcher of the Year while leading the team to a NAIA World Series runner-up finish.
Everett signed with the San Diego Padres following his collegiate career and spent one season with the Eugene Emeralds, going 5-2 with a 2.76 ERA in 25 relief appearances.
A native of Loudon, Tennessee, Everett is a 2012 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin. He is married to his college sweetheart, Joanna Stewart Everett. They have three children, Rackley, Marion and Lila.
