Former UCF and Oklahoma head coach John Roddick joined the Auburn men's tennis coaching staff as an associate head coach in August of 2023.
Roddick joined the staff after spending the past seven seasons as the director of tennis and head men's tennis coach at UCF. Under his guidance, the Knights received two NCAA Tournament bids, six All-American selections, 15 All-AAC selections and the 2021 AAC Championship title. The program also saw its best record since moving to the AAC in 2021 when Roddick led the team to a 22-4 record as well as its highest ITA ranking in program history, which was ninth in the nation.
Prior to his time at UCF, Roddick served as the head coach at the University of Oklahoma from 2010-2016. The Sooners posted three consecutive NCAA Championship runner-up finishes in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Oklahoma also earned its first Big 12 Conference championship in 2012 as well as a No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament in 2015.
He was named the ITA National Coach of the Year once, the ITA Central Region Coach of the Year twice and Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year four times during his time with the Sooners.
Prior to taking his first head coaching job at Oklahoma, Roddick served as an assistant coach for two seasons at Florida State as well as for three seasons at Georgia, which included a national championship in 2001.
The Omaha, Nebraska native played collegiate tennis at the University of Georgia, where he earned All-American honors four times and was named the UGA Athlete of the Year in 1998.
