Associate head coach Chris Hooshyar is beginning his fifth season with the Auburn men’s tennis program, after five successful seasons as an assistant with the Auburn women’s team. He was named the ITA Southern Region assistant coach of the year for the 2021 campaign for his many contributions to the Tigers' success.

A tremendous motivator and recruiter, Hooshyar has brought a number of top international players to Auburn. His success in building the Tiger women into an NCAA tournament regular earned him national assistant coach of the year honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in 2016.

From Manchester, England, Hooshyar and his wife Meagan, Auburn’s assistant athletics director for student-athlete experience, have two daughters, Charlotte and Halton.

  • Joined Coach Bobby Reynolds’ staff in July, 2018, as assistant coach
  • Named associate head coach in July, 2022, after Auburn finished No. 23 as a team, advancing to the SEC semifinals and the second round of the NCAA championships; All-Americans Tad Maclean and Finn Murgett and all-SEC Tyler Stice earned NCAA individual bids
  • Helped the young Tigers advance as No. 39 in the ITA rankings in 2021, with individual NCAA qualifiers in singles (Tyler Stice) and doubles (Tad Maclean and Finn Murgett)
  • Tad Maclean and Finn Murgett 2021 NCAA doubles finalists
  • From 2014-18 with the Auburn women’s tennis program, helped the Tigers post three 20-win seasons and five NCAA appearances as assistant (2014-16) and associate head coach (2017-18); Auburn made two trips to the NCAA Sweet 16 (2016 and 2017)
  • The 2016 Tigers set program records for single season wins (24) and single season SEC wins (9), hosting an NCAA Regional for the first time in school history
  • 2016 ITA national assistant coach of the year (Auburn women)
  • 2018 ITA Southern Region assistant coach of the year (Auburn women)
  • Two-year team captain at SMU, posting 35 career singles victories; served two seasons (2012-13) as a volunteer assistant coach after graduation
  • 2008 NCAA Tournament singles qualifier
  • Top-ranked juniors player in England
  • Quarterfinalist in the ATP Manchester and Nottingham Challengers and was ranked as high as No. 915 in the world
  • 2010 SMU graduate with bachelor's degree in sociology and master's in conflict resolution
