Sara Graziano brings a resume full of accomplishments on the softball field and in the classroom to Auburn. Graziano, a 1995 graduate of Coastal Carolina University, was one of the most prolific hitters in NCAA history, garnering both the 1994 batting (.589) and slugging (1.006) championships. Both the batting and slugging marks are NCAA records that still stand. In the classroom, she was just as successful as she was named the 1994 GTE Academic All-American of the Year.
In addition to her batting championships, Graziano also finished the 1994 season ranked second in the NCAA in RBI with 84 and eighth in home runs with 14. During the 1994 season, Graziano also earned Big South All-Conference honors and was named the conference most valuable player after making the conference all-tournament team.
During the course of her career at Coastal Carolina, Graziano set a school record for consecutive games with a hit by hitting safely in 43 consecutive contests. She also holds records for home runs with 21, triples with 17 and game-winning hits with 19. Graziano's career batting average with the Chanticleers was a stellar .522. She also played basketball and volleyball for the Chants, becoming the first three-sport athlete since the program moved to NCAA Division I status in 1986.
A native of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Graziano also made a name for herself in the classroom, being named to the 1994 GTE Academic All-American First Team. Graziano received her Bachelor of Science in Marine Science from Coastal Carolina in 1995.
Prior to her arrival at Auburn, Graziano was a Diagnostic Lab Technician at the California Avian Laboratory. She is currently pursuing her Master's degree at Auburn.
This past summer she was a participant in the inaugural season of the Women's Professional Fastpitch league. Graziano hit the first home run in WPF history while playing for the Durham Dragons. She completed the season playing for the Georgia Pride and is planning on competing for the Pride again next summer.
