Entering her first season as an assistant coach with the Tigers, Julie Crandall brings with her the experience of success. Crandall, a two-time All-American at UNLV, helped lead the Runnin' Rebels to two NCAA Tournament appearances, including one trip to the Women's College World series.
Crandall, 22, joined the Tigers' staff in August 1998 after graduating from UNLV with a bachelor's degree in communication in May 1998. Her responsibilities include working with catchers and infielders, in addition to recruiting and day-to-day operations.
in 1998, Crandall was named UNLV Sportswoman of the Year. She currently holds nine career records at UNLV and was a four-time, all-conference selection (two-time Big West and two-time WAC).
The San Jose, Calif., native finished second in career home runs in UNLV history with 20 and ranked seventh all-time in hitting.
In additional to her coaching duties, Crandall is working towards a master's degree in communications and she signed to play with the professional fastpitch team, the Georgia Pride for the 1999 season.
