Mike Perniciario is in his sixth season as an assistant for the Auburn softball program. He was named to the Auburn staff in July 1998 after a two-year stint with the Georgia program.

Perniciaro, 34, is the main hitting coach for the Tigers, but also works with the fielding aspect of the team in addition to his recruiting and day-to-day coaching duties. 

Along with his work at Auburn, Perniciaro is a well-respected hitting instructor at camps and clinics throughout the southeast.

In his two seasons at Georgia, Perniciaro helped the Bulldogs to a 59-59 record and the school's first winning season in 1998.

Prior to Georgia, Perniciaro was the assistant softball coach at Centernary College for two years. At Centernary, he also served as assistant athletic director for marketing and promotions.

The St. Louis, Mo., native played baseball for two seasons at Meramec Junior College before finishing his playing career and earning a bachelor's degree in exercise physiology at the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 1993. While earning his master's degree in sport administration, "Pooch" began his coaching career by serving as a graduate assistant baseball coach at Western Illinois University in 1994.
