Former Auburn standout Ashley Moore is in her second season as an assistant coach for the Tigers, having joined Tina Deese's staff in September 2004.
Moore oversees the team's outfield and assists with hitting and recruiting.
In 2005, Moore's tutelage paid off in dividends for the Tigers, who saw right fielder Sara Ghezzi earn All-SEC First Team honors. Centerfielder Amy Shaw also was recognized on a conference level, earning All-SEC Tournament honors.
All but one of Auburn's outfielders posted a fielding percentage of .900 or better in 2005 as the unit formed into one of the best in the Southeastern Conference.
Moore played for the Tigers from 1999 to 2002, breaking 15 school records along the way. She is Auburn's all-time leader in hits, runs, doubles, hit by pitches and total bases. In addition, she is second all-time in runs batted in, home runs, on-base percentage and slugging percentage.
Moore became the program's first ever Second Team All-American honoree in 2001 after batting .281 with 22 doubles, 11 home runs and 40 RBI. She garnered First Team All-Southeastern Conference honors in 2001 and 2002 and was named to the All-Region team both seasons.
Moore is tied with current slugger Holly Currie for Auburn's single-season record for home runs. Moore collected 17 during the 2002 season. Moore ended her career the 40 home runs, second most in Tiger history.
After her four-year career with the Tigers, Moore served as a student assistant coach for the 2003 season, then was drafted by the New England Riptide of the National Pro Fastpitch Softball League in January 2004.
Last season, Moore saw time with the Riptide for the second straight year. She batted .229 with a .403 on-base percentage and a .375 slugging percentage. in 48 at bats, Moore collected 11 hits -- four doubles and one home run -- while posting seven runs batted in. She walked nine times.
Moore came back to the Tigers from South Carolina, where she served as a Volunteer Assistant for the 2004 season. In 2004, the Gamecocks finished 28-24.
The Birmingham, Ala., native graduated from Auburn in 2002 with a degree in physical education. Moore came to Auburn from Vestavia Hills High School, where she earned 15 varsity letters in volleyball, softball, basketball, swimming and track. She earned three first team All-State honors while at Vestavia Hills.
