Stewart McGill enters his second season as an assistant coach, joining head coach Tina Deese's staff in September of 2006.
McGill serves as the team's No. 2 assistant and is primarily responsible for coaching Auburn's outfielders, slappers and other hitters. He assists with recruiting and general softball operations.
The Hazel Green, Ala., native is familiar with the Auburn program after serving as a student manager for the past two seasons.
As a manager, he helped run team practices by setting up and preparing the field. He assisted Deese and Auburn's coaches with any other duties as assigned.
McGill has international softball coaching experience, leading the Florida Quicksilver at the Canada Cup the past two seasons. Most recently, in 2006, the team went 5-4 in July, advancing to the Championship round play.
Prior to the tournament, McGill's club defeated eventual Canada Cup runner-up Canada before finishing 5-2 in pool play. In 2006, McGill coaches current Auburn players Holly Currie, Lauren Walton, Jorja Bell and Ashley Arcuri while with the Quicksilver.
Prior to coming to Auburn, McGill served as a student manager for softball at Arkansas from 2002-04. While with the Lady'Backs, McGill served as gameday manager and assisted with one and off the field operations for the coaching staff.
McGill earned his degree in physial education in 2006 and lives in Auburn.
