BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" The fourth-ranked Auburn equestrian team upset No. 2 South Carolina, 14-6, on Friday at the One Wood Farm.

"This is a great win," head coach Greg Williams said. "Winning on the road, particularly against any SEC team, is really hard. Our girls, we have been talking about this all along, have been preparing so well. I actually had an expectation that we were going to win, and they deserved to win. They rode fantastic today. I can't wait for more meets now."

Auburn (2-0, 1-0 SEC) went into halftime with a 7-3 lead after winning Reining, 4-1, and Fences, 3-2. Freshman Blair McFarlin earned her first career win, defeating Bridgett White, 72-69. Senior Allie Dusha topped Paisley Roberts, 68.5-59.5, before sophomore Alexa Rivard edged out Bailey Walters, 70.5-70. Senior Hailey Munger scored a 74 to defeat Kara Guertin's 72.5, earning MOP honors.

In Fences, freshman Caitlin Boyle knocked off Sydney Smith, 89-78. Junior Ashley Foster defeated Samantha Kraus 90-86 to earn MOP honors, before senior Elizabeth Benson scored the seventh point with an 85-82 victory over Samantha Smith.

After intermission, senior Hannah Loseke defeated Bailey Mierzejewski 71-70.5, in Horsemanship. Junior Hannah Stephens closed out the event with a 74.5-72 win over Madison Thiel. In Equitation on the Flat, Boyle scored a 94 to earn the 10th point for the Tigers, before Foster clinched the match with an 87-83 victory over Samantha Smith. Freshman Hayley Iannotti defeated Samantha Kraus, 83-75, before Benson closed the match with a 96-82 victory over Lauren Fabiano, winning her 20th career MOP.

The Tigers return to action October 17 with a 10 a.m. CT meet against Oklahoma State at the Auburn University Horse Center.
