COLLEGE STATION, Texas. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" No. 2 Auburn equestrian fell to No. 5 Texas A&M, 11-8, on Friday at the Hildebrand Equine Complex in College Station, Texas.
"It is a tough loss," head coach Greg Williams said. "There are some times where you just do what you aren't supposed to do. It wasn't that we really made mistakes, we just didn't have as big of rides as we usually do. We have to be adjust to every ride that we get on. We didn't adjust to the horses well today. I know we are still really good, it just didn't work out for us today."
Freshman Caitlin Boyle defeated Marlena Parker, 77-76, in Equitation over Fences to give Auburn its first point of the match before freshman Hayley Iannotti topped Haley Webster, 81-80.
Freshman Sarah Miller sparked the Tigers' 3-1 victory in Horsemanship with a 75-74 win over Avery Ellis. Senior Griffin Knight defeated Carolyn Day, 64-61.5, and freshman Lauren Diaz earned MOP honors after defeating Rachel Lucht, 76.5-70.5.
Senior Elizabeth Benson and junior Tory Hoft continued their perfect seasons in Equitation on the Flat as Benson toppled Anna Rea, 74-65, and Hoft knocked off Audrey Gallagher, 93-74, to earn MOP honors. Sophomore Alexa Rivard picked up the Tigers' lone point in Reining, defeating Madison Bohman, 69-68.
Auburn returns to action on Sunday against SMU at 10 a.m. CT in Dallas, Texas.
