Auburn in the NFL: Week 15 rundown

Auburn in the NFL: Week 15 rundownAuburn in the NFL: Week 15 rundown

There was no containing Derrick Brown and Carl Lawson in Week 15. Brown recorded his first two NFL sacks while Lawson had a sack, a forced fumble and six total QB hits. That and more in this week's NFL rundown.

BEST OF WEEK 15

Josh Bynes, LB, Cincinnati Bengals
As disruptive as Lawson was for the Bengals on Monday night, Bynes was equally impressive with nine tackles, one tackle for loss and a fumble recovery in a 27-17 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The fumble recovery came midway through the first quarter and led to a field goal for the Bengals. In the second half, Bynes stuffed a third-and-1 run up the middle for a loss, forcing the Steelers to punt.

Derrick Brown, DL, Carolina Panthers
Brown has come close to getting his first sack time and time again this season. On Saturday, he recorded not one but two sacks in Saturday night's loss to the Green Bay Packers. The rookie defensive tackle blew past his man to get to Aaron Rodgers late in the first half and then flattened Rodgers again midway through the third quarter. For Brown, it was the fifth-straight game he's had at least three total QB pressures.

Carl Lawson, DE, Cincinnati Bengals
The Pittsburgh Steelers had no answer for Lawson who finished with one sack, a tackle for loss and six QB hits to lead a spirited effort from the Bengals' defense. He also forced a fumble on the sack. Lawson now has 5.5 sacks on the season, and it was third game in which he's recorded five or more hits on the quarterback. After the game, he dedicated his performance to former Auburn legend Kevin Greene who passed away Monday.

Darius Slayton, WR, New York Giants
After a mini slump the past three games, Slayton broke out again Sunday night with four catches for a team-high 74 yards in a loss to the Cleveland Browns. Slayton averaged 18.5 yards per catch, and his long grab of the night went for 35 yards in the first quarter. The second-year wide receiver leads the Giants with 703 receiving yards on the season, and his 15.3 yards per catch is tied for 15th among all NFL pass catchers.
