Auburn in the NFL: Week 2 rundown

Auburn in the NFL: Week 2 rundownAuburn in the NFL: Week 2 rundown

It was a memorable week for a couple of former Auburn defensive linemen. Marlon Davidson recorded his first NFL sack while Angelo Blackson pulled down his first NFL interception. That and more in this week's Auburn in the NFL rundown.

BEST OF WEEK 2

Angelo Blackson, DL, Chicago Bears
Blackson lived out every big defensive lineman's dream Sunday as he intercepted a pass for the first time in his career. The interception, coming off Joe Burrow, was caught off a deflection and led to a field goal to put the Bears up 20-3 at the time. Aside from the pick, Blackson was his typical sturdy self at the line of scrimmage and totaled three tackles and a quarterback hit in what was a 20-17 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Daniel Carlson, PK, Las Vegas Raiders
Carlson continued his perfect start to the season and extended his field goal streak, which dates back to last year, to 26 in a row. On Sunday, he was 4 of 4 on field goals and proved to be the difference in the Raiders' 26-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. On his fourth and final kick of the day, Carlson put the game away with a 45-yard field goal to make it a nine-point game in the final minute. He's currently tied for third in the NFL with 23 points.

Marlon Davidson, DL, Atlanta Falcons
It was a memorable day for Davidson who recorded his first career NFL sack. Halfway through the third quarter, on a crucial 3rd-and-long, Davidson came off the edge and took down Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady. The second-year defensive lineman amassed two tackles, including the sack, and now has five tackles through the first two games after missing extended time last season as a rookie.

Carlton Davis, CB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
It was another solid day at the office for Davis who finished with nine tackles and a pass deflection in a victory over the Atlanta Falcons. It was no ordinary pass deflection, however. With the Buccaneers up 41-25 in the fourth quarter, Davis blitzed off the edge and batted the ball straight up in the air. Teammate Mike Edwards came down with it and took it into the end zone for a touchdown. For Davis, the nine tackles matched his career high.

Darius Slayton, WR, New York Giants
Coming off a 65-yard performance in week one, Slayton caught his first touchdown of the 2021 season Thursday night against the Washington Football Team. The touchdown, a 33-yard connection, came on a deep ball down the sideline where Slayton ran under it, caught it and kept both feet in as he crossed the goal line. It was the 12th career touchdown for Slayton who finished with three grabs for 54 yards.
