Auburn Made: Week 5 NFL rundown

Auburn Made: Week 5 NFL rundownAuburn Made: Week 5 NFL rundown

It was a special night for the Auburn Family on Monday as brothers Daniel and Anders Carlson squared off for the first time on Monday Night Football. The two kickers left a lasting legacy at Auburn and have continued that success in the NFL.

That and more in this week's Auburn Made NFL rundown.

BEST OF WEEK 5

Anders Carlson, K, Green Bay Packers
In the battle of the Carlson brothers, it was Daniel's Raiders who got the 17-13 victory on Monday night. But it was Anders who had the better performance between the two kickers as he made both of his field-goal attempts (37, 22) and his lone extra point to finish with seven points. The rookie has yet to miss a kick in the NFL, converting all seven of his FG attempts and all 10 PAT attempts. He's made at least one field goal in all five games.

Rudy Ford, S, Green Bay Packers
Another week, another interception. Ford made it back-to-back weeks with a pick when he undercut the receiver and intercepted Jimmy Garoppolo on the opening drive of the second half Monday night. It was the highlight of what was another solid performance for Ford who finished second on the team with a PFF grade of 75.0. He also had nine tackles, second most on the team. He now has six career interceptions in the NFL.

Roger McCreary, CB, Tennessee Titans
It was a busy day for McCreary who finished with eight tackles. He was credited with a sack and forced fumble when he blitzed off the edge and brought down quarterback Anthony Richardson, causing Richardson to throw a backward pass out of bounds that went for a loss of 17 yards. It was McCreary's second sack of the season. The second-year cornerback earned the sixth highest PFF grade on Tennessee's defense at 61.7.

Braden Smith, OT, Indianapolis Colts
For the second straight week, Smith was the highest-graded offensive lineman for the Colts. In Sunday's 23-16 win over division rival Tennessee, Smith finished with an overall PFF grade of 83.3 (third highest on the team) and a run-blocking grade of 87.9. He played a major role in clearing the way for Zack Moss on a 56-yard touchdown run (see below). As a team, the Colts rushed for 193 yards against the Titans. It was another strong performance for Smith who ranks as PFF's No. 12 tackle through the first five weeks of the season.

C.J. Uzomah, TE, New York Jets
Uzomah caught just two passes for 12 yards Sunday, but it was the work he did as a blocker that earned him high praise following the Jets' win in Denver. Uzomah finished with an overall grade of 70.7 and a run-blocking grade of 77.8 from PFF and helped running back Breece Hall go off for 177 yards on the ground. As a team, the Jets rushed for 234 yards. Over the last three games, Uzomah has earned run-blocking grades of 77.8, 71.1 and 88.3.
