ATHENS, Ga. – One race, one record. Kicking off the swimming portion of the 2025 SEC Championships in style, the Auburn women posted a school record in the 200 medley relay at a blistering 1:34.89. With four days of action left inside Gabrielsen Natatorium, the women sit seventh with 115.5 points while the men are 10th with 63 points.

Lora Komoroczy, Lawson Ficken, Anastasia Makarova and Lexie Mulvihill couldn’t have started the championships any better. The quartet became the first Auburn women to manage a sub-1:35.00 time, combining for a 1:34.89 in the 200 medley relay to set a school record and finish fifth overall.

Over in the diving well, the men began their first competition of the meet in the 3-meter event. Whit Andrus and Talan Blackmon were the pair of Tigers divers who managed to put points on the board for the Orange and Blue. Andrus’ 313.85 was good enough for 18th overall with Blackmon right behind in 19th at 313.20.

When it came time for the 800 free relay, Danny Schmidt, Ryan Husband, Mason Mathias and Jon VanZandt combined for 6:11.72 for the third-fastest relay in school history and fifth overall. Schmidt’s 1:31.80 in the leadoff 200 hundred jumps the German native to No. 2 all-time behind only Zach Apple.

On the women’s side, Polina Nevmovenko, Julia Strojnowska, Maggie McGuire and Bella Ekk went 7:05.27 to grab eighth.

The Auburn men’s 200 medley relay squad was ultimately disqualified for an early takeoff on the first exchange.
