ATLANTA, Ga. – Capturing 16 of the 22 total events on Saturday, Auburn wrapped up third place at the inaugural Dual Meet Tournament with a 503-286 victory over Florida State inside historic McAuley Aquatic Center.
Lisa Klevanovich, Izzy Iwasyk, Wyllo Hanson and Bella Ekk got the party started in the 400 free relay. The quartet combined for a 3:16.68 to open the morning with a win.
On the men’s side, Daniel Krichevsky, Kalle Makinen, Warner Russ and Sohib Khaled went for a 2:51.34 to take second place.
Lora Komoroczy dominated the 100 backstroke all weekend long and Saturday was no different. Her 51.65 was a season-best and earned the Hungarian another victory. Ivan Tarasov continued the momentum on the men’s side. He outtouched the Seminoles with a 46.40.
Freshman Taylor Bacher jumped to the winner’s circle in the 200 fly with a 1:57.32. The Tigers swept the event with Carissa Rinard (1:58.00) and Casey Cullen (1:59.73) outclassing the field.
Bacher was back on top in the 200 IM, conjuring a 1:59.52 to earn the win. Teammate Zoey Zeller (2:01.93) would finish second.
After a top-10 swim on Friday in the 200 breast, Maston Ballew was nearly as good on Saturday. A 1:56.33 gave the rookie an easy win.
Iwasyk was back on the blocks in the 100 free after her relay performance. Her 48.85 was a lifetime best and good enough for the victory.
Ethan Swart was lights out in the 3-meter event. A 190.20 was more than enough to get the victory as teammate Ben Wilson finished in second at 180.45.
When it came time for the 1-meter, both Wilson and Emily Hallifax dialed up winning efforts. Wilson managed a 189.90, while Hallifax delivered a 154.20.
Sammie Hamilton came out of the break energized and ready to roll in the 500 free. A 4:47.37 led another sweep with Maggie McGuire (4:49.11) and Bella Ekk (4:56.58) following suit. Krichevsky made it back-to-back wins with a 4:23.98 in the men’s edition.
Spring queen Elizaveta Klevanovich found herself below 22 seconds in the 50 free for the third time this weekend. A 21.95 with Komoroczy right behind at 22.22 gave Auburn yet another 1-2 finish. Kalle Makinen finished off his 50 free with his fastest time of the weekend at 19.41.
Rounding out the dual, Komoroczy, Kiia Metsakonkola, Iwasyk and Klevanovich rolled to an easy win in the 200 medley relay with a 1:36.35. Luke Bedsole, Uros Zivanovic, Sohib Khaled and Makinen equaled the effort to end the victory on a high note.
