HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The No. 17 Auburn gymnastics team capped a busy weekend at the annual Elevate the Stage meet in Huntsville, Alabama, scoring a 197.200 in the Von Braun Center to set a season high road score.
No. 6 Georgia won the meet with a 198.075, while No. 14 Clemson finished third with a 196.875 and Pittsburgh came in fourth with a 196.000.
“I thought the team did a really good job this meet of putting one foot in front of the other,” head coach Jeff Graba said. “They were building routines like they were supposed to. We did this all the way to the final event and then just got a little bit ahead of ourselves. But overall, a really great meet.”
Junior Julianne Huff captured the all-around title with a 39.500, picking up her third all-around crown this season.
“Julianne’s mentality and preparation are second to none,” Graba said. “She’s become a more vocal leader on this team and it’s been fun to watch her grow into that role.”
Auburn (4-11) kicked off the meet on beam, earning a 49.300 as a team in the first rotation. Three Tigers in Huff, senior Hannah Hagle and sophomore Marissa Neal each scored a 9.875, while sophomore Olivia Ahern scored a 9.85. Junior Alex Irvine added a 9.825 to the team score.
The floor squad followed with a 49.425, marking the team’s third highest score in the event this season.
Leading the way was a 9.95 from Huff, tying her career high. Ahern also tied a career score with a 9.9 and junior Olivia Greaves followed with another 9.9. Neal anchored with a 9.85, while Irvine and sophomore Bryn Bartman opened the rotation with a pair of 9.825s.
Vault followed suit and scored 49.4, reaching the second-best score in the event of the year.
Highlighting the rotation was junior Paige Zancan in the fifth spot. She stuck her unique vault to earn a 9.95 for the Tigers. Neal added a 9.9, while Huff and freshmen Mia Leverton and Brynn Torry all earned 9.85s for the team.
The Tigers capped the meet on bars, going 49.075. Sophomore Katelyn Jong tied a season best, scoring a 9.85. Huff led off with a 9.825 and freshman Charlotte Booth set a career high with another 9.825. Greaves and Irvine contributed a 9.775 and a 9.8, respectively.
Auburn closes out the regular season with an SEC contest vs. No. 7 Missouri, March 13. The two Tiger teams will face off in Neville Arena at 7 p.m. CT and the meet will be streamed on SEC Network+
