Men Third; Women Fourth After Day Two Of Texas Invite

AUBURN, Ala. - The nationally-ranked Auburn swimming team finished the second day of competition at the Texas Swimming & Diving Hall Of Fame Invitational Friday at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin, Texas. The fifth-ranked men are in third place with a score of 303 points, while the No. 7 women are fourth with 261 points.

"I'm proud of how the team competed tonight," Brett Hawke, head coach, said. "We won some heats and greatly improved from this morning. We're still fighting out there and there was great team spirit and I'm happy with the overall effort."

Kohlton Norys, Michael Silva, Tyler McGill and Gideon Louw started day two of finals with a NCAA "B" time of 1:27.64 and a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay. Also picking up a B time in the event was the team of Pascal Wollach, Stuart Ferguson, Jordan Anderson and Karl Krug. The quad finished sixth in 1:29.31.

Junior Adam Klein recorded a B time in the 100 breast, taking fifth in 54.90. Norys and McGill tallied B times in the 100 back, finishing fifth (48.36) and sixth (48.96), respectively. The 800 free relay of McGill, Norys, Wollach and Kyle Owens put together a B cut swim. The team took first in 6:40.20.

Also competing in an A Final for Auburn was Owens, who took eighth in the 400 IM with a time of 4:04.11.

On the women's side, the team of Melissa Marik, Micah Lawrence, Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace and Hannah Riordan opened the night with a B cut time of 1:42.47 for a sixth-place finish in the 200 medley relay.

Picking up an individual B time was Lawrence in the 100 breast. The sophomore finished fourth in a time of 1:01.75. Marik also earned a B time individually, taking ninth in the 100 back in 55.42. Also tallying best-finishes for the Tigers were Stephanie Horner and Becca Jones. Horner finished seventh in the 400 IM in 4:23.67, while Jones took 17thin 1:49.28 in the 200 free.

The squad of Caitlin Geary, Jones, Ohlgren and Maggie Bird closed out the night with a sixth-place finish in the 800 free relay. The group swam in a time of 7:32.69.

The swimmers finish competition on Saturday at Texas Invitational with the preliminaries starting at 10 a.m., while the finals kick off at 6 p.m.
