Getting to the quarterback was a theme in Week 9 for Auburn’s pro contingent as Carl Lawson and Jamien Sherwood tallied two sacks apiece in their respective games.
That and more in this week’s Auburn Made NFL rundown.
BEST OF WEEK 9
Carlton Davis, CB, Detroit Lions
It was another solid performance for Davis on Sunday afternoon against division rival Green Bay. The former Buccaneer finished with seven tackles and two pass break-ups in a 24-14 victory. Davis earned the third-highest PFF grade (78.5) on the Lions’ defense, and with 81 pass break-ups since 2018, including eight in his last five games, he now ranks third among all NFL players during that span.
Carl Lawson, DE, Dallas Cowboys
With pass-rushers Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence still unavailable for the Cowboys, Lawson stepped up in a big way Sunday with a two-sack performance against the Atlanta Falcons. He forced a fumble on one of his sacks that was recovered by teammate Donovan Wilson. Lawson’s PFF grade of 78. 3 was second-highest on the team. He now has 29.5 career sacks through his first seven NFL seasons.

Jamien Sherwood, LB, New York Jets
Sherwood continued to impress Thursday night against Houston as he recorded seven tackles and two sacks and played a key role in holding the Texans to just 13 points in a 21-13 win for the Jets. One sack came on a critical third-down play during the quarter where Sherwood swallowed up quarterback C.J. Stroud for a loss of 11 yards. The two sacks were his first of what has been a breakout season for Sherwood.
